I see things that nobody else sees

Isolation can drive a man to madness. It is a common belief, especially in the remote mountain ranges of the Himalayas. The winds roar with the force of a hundred lions, and the frost stings with the fury of one thousand hornets. Nature is fury here, and its anger hides away one of the Guardian's most precious jewels.

The Lumar Lamadary looms over the valley like a promise. Its structure is surprisingly robust despite the intricacies of its design. Its silhouette is awash with scarlet and golden flames from the setting sun, but there is no doubt that when the moon rises high, the building will be a pearl against the darkness. It is, indeed, fitting to be the symbol of hope and communication to the titular Man in the Moon.

He sits, an apparition against the landscape with his pale robes dancing in the unforgiving gales. The Unmaker has decided to play an impromptu director for this next scene. The peaceful lives of the monks and yetis in the village down below make a pretty picture, but he is sure that he can do better.
Every last corner of Asia has been combed over by his watchful eye since his time at the Jade Palace. He sees something familiar, something oddly like home, and he intends to make it dance to a new tune.

As the sun finally dips underneath the horizon for sleep, the shadows behind him stir as the Night Mares locate their shepherds. They spring free of the darkness, shaking the snow from their wild manes and blinking the last daylight from their eyes. Yi does not need to motion. The Night Mares have a command of their own, and he is simply there with other Anti-Guardians to protect them as they harvest the fresh energy--fear--from the residents maintaining this sacred stronghold. The beast spill down the mountainside in a steady stream. From his perch, Yi notes that they look like ink droplets slipping down parchment.

"Well," Yi chirps as he stands up, "Time to get to work."

He does not wait for his fellow comrades to join him. He is the first to vault off the cliff after the Night Mares as they swarm over the landscape to feed off of unsuspecting sleepers. He lands rather precariously in a patch of snow, sliding down the rest of the way until he hops onto the nearest rooftop. It's almost surreal how quiet the Night Mares are despite their hunger and intent to feed. Regardless, someone would notice the invasion soon, and he anticipated that moment with a terrible glee.

I get knocked down, but I get up again
The nose of a hunter, the ears of a hunter, the eyes of a hunter. He bore all three readily - ears swivelling, catching the faint trickle of an unnatural snow that choked the void of peace, eyes bearing the thick black trickling in the distance that seemed almost like rain from above, if not for its colour and the way that it moved.

The Moon Rabbit was on alert, as swift as the guards to jump to arms. He, however, wasn’t focusing on the Night Mares; not yet, at least. The monks were no Guardians….but they could battle fears on their own soil. And the yetis at their disposal were powerful muscle to add to their prowess. No….the Moon Rabbit had spied something else - colourful, watching in the distance...and most definitely humanoid. The Night Mares had observers - or was it herders? Either way...there was someone leading this attack. Someone to back up the darkness. Night Mares attacking a stronghold on their own wasn’t normal...they feasted on fear, and a stronghold for the Guardians oft held the exact opposite, defining their strengths instead. This was a directed attack, led by whomever shifted so elegantly in the snowfield, almost like a bird.

The great white rabbit raised his bow, hidden - white against white - as best as he could keep himself….for now. If the peacock decided to fly a little closer, he had no qualms with playing a little close-quarters combat. He watched his target bounce around for a bit, his grasp on his bow shifting to follow. He could get an idea of the damn little gremlin’s trajectory….it was erratic, but he was following along the path to where the Night Mares were wreaking their fearful havoc. His lips pulled into a smirk as he finally let loose an arrow.

There was a rustle in the air. At first, Ivan sense it in the Dream World. It was fairly normal, as for every dream there was a nightmare. They haunted his realm and those most unnatural attempted to approach land that was not their's. It was especially easy to sense such beings once night came. However, as the hour grew closer and closer to when most mortals would all shut their eyes and he came to the surface he found that it was not a mere routine.

Just as there had been a whisper in the Dream World there was one among the surface. It went unseen by many, but to those who could speak his tongue it was quite noticeable even if it was not understood. It was a treachery from the darkness and a trickling of fear. Even with the vaguest of descriptions the Nutcracker Prince understood what had begun to spread.

With arriving, Ivan forced some of his magic into a clockwork toy. Carefully, it took to the skies, taking towards the cascade of darkness and fear.

I see things that nobody else sees

The cold settled comfortably in his body. He supposed he should thank his lucky stars that he has four hearts inside his chest. The blood pumping through his veins is what is keeping him warm enough to live. It's poetic, he figures, to live off of the lives of others. Even now, the ice calls to him with a center that is also not his. His powers whisper within him, oddly attuned to the environment while he himself was not.

It's the one he took from the man of shadows. Frost dances across his skin, yet he does not find it remotely unpleasant. It is the feeling of something that will soon be his.

He supposes that he isn't going to be allowed much time to enjoy it. The familiar sound of an arrow zipping through the air is met with a crooked smile. Yi turns his head, eyes flashing as he snatches the projectile easily, stopping it millimeters short from his face. The tip is sharp on his weapon, he observes. He's facing a hunter of sorts.

Yi grins, standing to full height on the rooftop as he lowers the arrow, snapping it in half easily in his hand. He tosses the pieces aside, catching sight of the archer who had shot. Yi almost snorted. Well, he wasn't going to be the one pointing out the irony of a rabbit trying to hunt. And him, of all people!

"He has a strong center," Yi comments to himself as he raises his hand into the air. Above him, ice begins to form in sharp blades. It's much easier in the cold. "If you want to play the long distance game, then let's play," Yi grins as he sends a shower of spikes in the direction of the Guardian.

I get knocked down, but I get up again
It was ironic to most – the idea that Rabbit was a hunter. They simply never grew up with the stories; Mahtigwess, Ableegemooch, and Gah’tsoh himself were only a few – those known to his people, at least. No matter the depiction, Rabbit was always seen significantly as a hunter. He was also the Hero, and therefore clever and smart, often painted the victor against Wildcat, Otter or Coyote. But this was not the old days, not the old stories between Gah’tsoh and his trickster friends. He was facing a clever creature – those who led a force were best assumed to be a clever foe – and one who seemed, despite the situation, relatively relaxed. He was not the standard General who stood stoically delegating orders to his men. He was watching from afar, not participating at all. Out of disinterest, or was he the line of defense?

Whoever he was, he brought a smile to the Moon Rabbit’s face. There was not a cry of agony as his arrow met its mark; instead, Peacock had caught the arrow in his hand and snapped it neatly in half. He met the gaze of his opponent, offering a smirk in return, and a wave. ”Nae bad, me ol’ cockie.” he muttered, more to himself and for no real reason – but truth be told he could feel his blood start to pump hotter. He was facing someone who might be interesting. His attention was briefly drawn by the appearance of something else- some kind of a…an automated…something. It looked like some sort of a-

Shit.

Douglas’ attention turned just then back towards his graceful peacock…and there was a torrent of ice, sharp as blades, heading his way. No time to dodge it; he got caught in the side, letting out a hiss as he bounded to cover to avoid the rest of the onslaught, eyeing the injury with a frown. Fuckin bastard got the drop on him…but that was what he got for momentary distraction. He allowed himself to rest out of sight, letting his free hand move to wrap fingers around the shard of ice, pulling it free with a gross little shick. Could’ve been worse, could’ve gotten his vitals.

Not a peacock, then. A snowbird. He raised his bow again, nocking an arrow. ”Vat was a free shot. Vis time I won’ be as gen’rous…”

He let the arrow fly.

'Cause the best gift I can give you

Metal was such an unfeeling medium. It was easy to meld and craft to one's whims. It was quite unlike wood, which took a great deal of time and pain to produce anything. This was something that the Nutcracker Prince often forgot, far too used to working with his tin soldiers whose hearts he would claim to be as great as any man's. However, the bird was no tin soldier. It was a creature that had originally been but a toy, meant to bring happiness but did not, as Ivan's creator would have claimed, possess that special something which made it different. Reanimating it did not change this. It merely gave it consciousness and the ability to move, making it like a puppet that had learned to move without its strings.

It should come as no surprise that it acted logically, wishing to fulfill the reason that Ivan had given it. It had but only one chance, but time was short. As a result, it acted without kindness. Like an abandoned gift, he was cast to the ground, landing on the ground mere moments before he transformed.

"Sugar cookies!" A grimace crossed his face before he made his way to his feet, an ache in his body but lacking injury. At least, he muses, his companion- a quick glance showed that the magical toy had taken to higher ground, scowering for more enemies- had been careful enough to see that he was not injured. It would be dreadful if he had been cracked. Fighting became so difficult with injury.

His gaze immediately focused upon the situation. Within the distance he could spot a rather colourful fellow and, closer by, the Rabbit he had met once before could be seen. A flying arrow answered who was probably behind this all. Frowning, he grasped his gun. It felt a bit odd, for his sword was something he seemed to use more often. Guardians did not seem to have much reason to snipe much of anything unless a Nightmare was present. It was a fairly grueling task, but he was thankfully not so far away that he might need to set himself up like an assassin.

Eye trained, he took his shot.

Summon Information

FIREBIRD ITSELF - The summon is meant to have originally been a toy of a firebird, a creature out of Slavic lore. Due to Ivan animating it, it holds similar powers to an actual firebirds; however, it is nowhere near as powerful and is, in the end, just a reflection of a creature.

FLIGHT - Fairly straightforward. It's designed for it. However, it is meant to be large enough that Ivan could ride it. As such, it is not the fastest flyer.

FIRE - To be specific, it can actually only use one type of method to attack with fire. It can rain down fire due to how it was built. While attacks can be specifically aimed towards groups, they are not nearly as precise as a fire jet or fireball might be.

MISFORTUNE - The Summon can quite literally release seeds from its wings that are magical in nature. Growing faster than one might consider normal, the flowers which bloom "enchant" their prey through a toxin which offers relaxation and a noticeable difficulty to focus. In the end, it is merely an illusion of misfortune.

It tends to be fairly noticeable when the Summon does this. It can only be done once due to the scientific and mechanical nature of it all.

Attacking the Lunar Lamadary, it would be such a bold and reckless attack. It would make a grand statement that the other guardians couldn’t help but retaliate against the Antis in turn. Good. It was in his nature to want upheavals and challenges to the status quo. The balance the Guardians and Anti-guardians had were not what he expected when he first enlisted under the nightmare king. Like his court there was always a careful game of chess being played careful of not showing your weakness to the enemy or spreading yourself too thin. This lead to a Anti movement that needed more action, he had missed their last major move to expand their influence, but he was going be at the table this time.

He heard the commotion outside sure that Yi could handle it, but he wasn’t going to let the mad monk have all the fun. He just wanted to make sure the sun had completely sank beneath the mountains before he could finally cut loose. Tobias stood in the entrance hall, feeling the cool winds of the Himalayas breeze past him. It was fiercer than the Alps, but it felt like home nonetheless. He looked at the enemies: an overgrown Peter Cottontail with a bow and man with a bird overhead. He would have to choose the sniper from afar. His icy fire flared in his hands producing his frosting blue flames aimed squarely at the non-rabbit man. “The party arrived.” He said to Yi as he entered the battlefield; though the combatants looked more like h'ordeuvres than party goers.

Another arrow fired. Another arrow caught.

Snap.

The wood splinters easily in his hand. It's a lot like crushing centers. He can feel the palpable break. With a grin, he lets the shards scatter into the snowy landscape. What was once a weapon is now only a reminder of intent. He hopes that this rabbit does not simply have one trick. It would make for a very poor fight.

The wind howls as he watches the Guardian take cover. He never did like it when his opponents tried to hide. The next flurry of icicles rips through the building Douglas is hiding behind, wearing down the wood and tearing through the foundation. The onslaught intensifies, and he is so focused that he does not catch the enemy behind him.

The sound of a gunshot makes him dive to the side, but the searing pain that explodes in his shoulder tells him he did not move out of the way fast enough.

The snow is cold as he topples from the rooftop with a grunt. He rolls through whiteness, the frost clinging to his clothes as blood drips from where the bullet tore through flesh. Yi lets out a small exhale, fully annoyed by the fact that these Guardians were too much of cowards to face him head-on. That's fine.

Icy spikes erupt from the ground as he stomps angrily. They tear out of the ground like terrible flowers, aiming to impale anyone in the way. The attack rumbles against the ground, tearing up the house that damned rabbit was hiding behind.

It looked like the Guardians were wholly focused on fighting him and his companion, though. By the time they finished, hopefully, the Night Mares would have finished wrecking all the havoc they needed.

Nn. At least he wasn’t alone…even if his own arse had gotten himself distracted by the arrival of an ally, he had someone at his side. And a familiar someone, at that. His lips curled upward into a sneering smirk; outta anyone he could have, it was the Tin Soldier’s own superior. Now, that took him back, it’d bin a while since last he saw his fellow Guardian. Good to see he was still in the game. Though….if he was focusing on the flighty little peacock, that meant they had room to split their resources; taking down the herdsman was grand and all, but the horses were still doing their own damage. The monks could defend themselves only so much.

He’d admit to wounded pride that the damn flutterbird had caught his second arrow….but the Moon Rabbit wasn’t an idiot. He was getting nowhere with the cheeky little bastard; he was better suited after the dark, shadowy mares. Course, that meant gettin’ out in the middle of a hail of ice daggers. Fuckin’ bastard was giving him hell – but then, he could use that. Not the first time he’d use his own body as a meat shield, a distraction. Keep the peacock’s eyes on him…let him fluff those feathers and preen as he watched the rabbit writhe, right? Oh it’d hurt, but a fight wasn’t any good without the pain.

Cold shards bit into flesh as he zipped out, moving, capturing the foe’s attention. It hurt and all but he had to bear it – least until…..

Bang.

Good. Douglas shifted once more, getting himself to higher ground – bloody pain with ice riddled wounds, but he’d lived through worse. Fire was more painful. So long as he had a beating heart, he’d recover. Long as his heart stayed outta reach anyway. He’d almost lost even that, once, if not for Coyote. He turned his focus on the roaming black beasts below, taking aim, taking a sh—

--it.

Damn bastard was at it again; he could feel the rumbling, made to run, but the damn ice spikes caught his fuckin’ foot. He hissed, spitting at the ground – no screamin’, that wasn’t allowed, but a growl, he could growl. ”Oi, ya piece ‘a shit, I fink I’m th’one vat needs rabbit’s feet righ’ abahht now, go finid vat Eastehh Bastahhd. I’m shore he’d love ter share.”

He watched his arrow sail towards his mark. This one better be a damn hit.

Even without his keen eye, Ivan could tell that he had hit his mark. The snow whispered, giving insight to what could not be seen or heard. He should only be so lucky that he could understand a great deal of what surrounded him and was used to fighting in a blanket of snow. If he had not been, there was little doubt that the chilled attack that came towards him might have met its mark. Moving as quickly as possible, he managed to avoid it by a hair's breath.

An ally accompanying the collurful one was not unusual, he supposed. After all, it would be rather peculiar if the anti-guardians thought it better to work alone. There was a strength in numbers. Nonetheless, this provides an opportunity to divide the attack between the three of them. Moving in a single movement, he let a fire loose, withholding a grimace as he did.

Elsewhere, Ivan's mechanical bird scowered, doing as it had been instructed. It's attention was not focused upon the anti-guardians, but the mares that traveled a distance away. While it did not know what they were, it recognized them as dark and foreign. These were a threat to be rid of. It spread its wings widely before unleashing a torrent of fire in the direction of the Nightmares.

Tobias saw his shot missed, it sailed through the air only to miss the mark. This wouldn’t do at all, fighting from afar from each of their respective areas, what was this World War I? He could hear the buzzing off a bullet flying past him making a mark in the snow causing it to plume in the wind and scatter. He would need to close this gap if he was going to fight effectively. The fire crackled on his finger tips and he let loose another bolt of fire in the direction of the sniper. It wasn’t a well-aimed shot, but he just needed to cover himself if he was going to do this.

He concentrated, remembering his training. His feet hit the snow faster as he ran in the direction of the sniper. Each food pounding the mountain’s snow until he finally pushed off into the sky. Tobias loved the weightless feeling when he actually managed to do more than just jump really high. He was gliding through the air forcing himself toward the sniper’s position. He was confident he could out muscle one that needed to hide in a snow bank and make pot shots from afar.

Thankfully, it seemed that Tobias had entered the fray to take care of the one who had shot him. He was definitely going to give the bastard a piece of his mind later, but he had his own problems to deal with at the moment. The oversized Trix bunny he had targetting was now turning away from him--though not before he had scored a hit with his ice. Yi could see that he was after the Night Mares. Fair enough. He needed to defend said Mares.

Looking up now, he could see that there was... some sort of toy buzzing around in the air. Frowning, Yi lifted his hands, blades of ice forming around him. There was the scream of one of the Night Mares as it was struck by a rabbit's arrow, and the dark entities scattered into a run. Flames engulfed one unfortunate straggler, and The Unmaker scowled. He had acted a little too late, and now he was even more annoyed than he normally would have been.

"Alright, Birdie. Let's see how you like this."

With a wave of his hand, the ice shot out, aiming to tear off wings, or at least stab through the damned toy.

The fight was lookin’ somewhat closer now…two to two…and of course the hideous mares, twisted horses, reigning terror below. Douglas himself wan’t hardly in any good shape….fuckin’ his damn luck. Only he wan’t mad, he was actually sorta laughin’ at it all things considered….rabbit’s feet were meant ‘a be lucky, and here he was gettin’ himself gutted. It wasn’t gonna do him any good if he got himself torn up again, but at least he wan’t the only one any more. His brother soldier could make up the difference that he apparently failed. Which was embarrassing….he was Gah’tsoh, the damn hunter! Fuckin’ losin’ touch from all his years on the Clipper with his nose in a book.

But fightin’ felt good, even if he was losing.

He could see the new bloke makin’ to close the distance between himself n’ the soldier. At least both had made a hit in on the damn mares, that was a start. Seein’ that they were starting to disperse, he needed to pick a target and stick to it. That or…well. Frankly he was in shit condition. Takin’ another shot now was out of the question. He backed himself out for the moment, retreating away from sight. Give himself time to heal. His own enhanced healing din’t much like when he was runnin’ around shootin’ at shit, put more of a strain on his body. He hated the idea of jus’ letting his ally take all the heat, but for now that was what had to be done.

Logically, Ivan knew that his fight would not last long as a long distance one. In his experience, most individuals held little patience for such a style, particularly if they began losing. As it was, it was likely that the Anti-Guardian would close the distance between them if he was capable. If he did not do this, then he would at least attempt to shift the field of battle.

As a result, it was of no surprise when he was attacked once more. He had to do little work to avoid it, as it had been so ill aimed that he might as well have not moved. However, he kept his gaze astute and his ears open. Expecting a closing in distance, his hand went to his sword, a thrum of magic humming as attention was brought to it.

Yet, the same could not be said of the toy that roamed the skies. A mere puppet that followed command, it could only do so much when attacks were turned upon it. Ice tore through it, yet still the creature flew. As if in reparation, it let loose a great fiery blaze towards the nightmares.

Tobias cleared the distance between himself and the gunman, they both seemed to be lousy at long range anyway. The vampire floated through the air, taking a survey of the battle field before he prepared his next attack. Yi and the white haired man was engaged in battle, his fellow anti seems to be having better luck with his opponent than him. His eyes shifted to some mechanical bird flying and the nightmares that still had a presence on the battlefield, all in all it could go either way if the anti's slacked. Tobias could feel the limited of his levitation, only being able to keep altitude for a short time. It was of no concern he was close enough to his target.

He needed to focus on doing his role and dealing with the soldier before this became a problem. The guardians were a diverse group and could always pull some tricks out of their sleeves. Tobias accelerated his decent toward the soldier with the intention of giving this face it's much needed fist. As he closed in, he went for swing with some of his supernatural strength behind it.
