What doesn't kill me
 might make me kill you.

In the wooded hinterlands of eastern Siberia, protected from the average human's eyes by wards and magic, was the small town of Santoff Claussen. A place of imagination, invention, and dreams. Now, though, it was simply a place for dreams. The half moon was high, the blanket of space wrapped around the sky to ease it, and the residences, to sleep. All slept soundly in their beds, all except five adventurous children. Tall Willa, the first daughter of Tall William the Third, lead the small pack towards the cover of trees. In their group was William the Youngest the Fifth, Wendelle, Hesta, and Brien. William the Youngest the Fifth shook like the leaves in the trees and it wasn't only because when Tall Willa was pushing him out the door he'd forgotten his jacket. He did not feel good about tonight. The trees without the majority of their leaves looked like tall, bony, black fingers reaching towards him. Their branches clattered together, making for bone chilling ambient sounds around them as they pressed through the forest.

Tall Willa had said that she wanted to see the edge of the forest, especially at night. Sure, they had all wandered there while playing even though they weren't supposed to during the day. But, this was something they really shouldn't do. They'd heard old tales of what had happened with The Nightmare King, but Tall Willa had always been curious about the darker side of things, which made her family fear for her, but that's a story for a different time. Now, she lead all the smaller children who had also spoke up about their curiosity when Tall Willa told them she'd be going into the forest tonight to see past it. They all seemed so much more confident than William the Youngest the Fifth.

The young boy wasn't wrong to be cautious tonight, though, as there was a wolf on the prowl.

Skoll laid low, near the edge of the treeline, watching the group of children as they stumbled through the forest. If he didn't have something to do here, he'd jump forward and take their lives now, just for annoying him with their lack of ability to sneak through a forest. It was like these children were never taught caution. As they approached the edge of the woods, Skoll moved from his spot, slipping behind a rock and listening to the children talk of some of their more recent inventions.

“H-Hello?” Skoll called out, his voice mimicking that of a feeble girl. “Is someone there?” He looked to the mass and shook his head in warning. They were not easy to control, and he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep them back.

Tall Willa stopped the children with her arm out, just shy of the barrier of the ward that protected them. “Who's there?” She called out, her voice holding authority and confidence that she really didn't feel. She felt fear turn her blood cold.

“Oh, thank goodness! I've been here for hours. I have my leg caught under this rock and I can't get free,” Skoll acted, letting out a few small cries, “I thought I would be stuck here forever.”

Tall Willa wasn't fully convinced, but she stepped forward into the small field, the rest of the children following. “Where are you?” She asked, the area going dark as a cloud drifted over the moon.

There was no response.

Tall Willa moved forward cautiously, blindly.

The cloud finally passed and before her stood the form of a large, brown wolf, it's maw open and dripping. Behind him, a mass of dark, swarming Fearlings. They wailed softly, reaching for the children, their hands like the branches of the trees.

William the Youngest the Fifth let out a scream and moved to run for cover in the forest, but the Fearlings were already rushing forward, seizing the screaming and wailing children. The children felt the fear coursing through them, their bodies trembling, their heart struggling to pump their blood to quickly, their lungs gasping for air of which they couldn't seem get enough. It felt like the fear was consuming them, changing them.

The Fearlings focused on Tall Willa, looking to break the leader, the strongest mind. The rest of the children, once free from the suffocation of the creatures, went to run home. Skoll jumped over the scene, landing on the other side between the children and their safe haven, and growled, snapping his teeth. The children cried out and moved back, looking from the fearsome wolf to their friend being consumed by Fearlings.

Alhena hated the cold. There was some irony in the statement, given that he was a Gemini, and it was simply in his blood to not get cold. However, he had experienced it for the first time in Pitch's lair--shivering away against the cold stone of his dark cell, feeling the freezing air sting at his burn scars. It had been agony and suffering and everything in between.

The only question was... what was he supposed to do now?

Alhena hid behind a large pine, legs buried in the fallen snow. While it had stopped snowing a while ago, he could still feel the freezing chill in the air. He was not at all bothered by the physical cold, but he could still feel the beginnings of a shiver passing through his body. The fear pumped ice through his veins, freezing him solidly in place. He wasn't cold because of the temperature. He was cold from his own trepidation.

Ever since he had recovered from his torture, he had sought out Fearlings, Nightmare Men, and Night Mares to take out his frustration on. Antares had made sure to watch his back as they picked off individual after individual but this? This was impossible.

There were at least ten Fearlings from what he had counted. Sensing and going after one of them had led him to a pack, and they were turning children. Not to mention, there seemed to be an Anti-Guardian watching over them.

Alhena flinched as another scream tore through the clearing. He closed his eyes, seeing the fire rising over Gemini as the mass of black in rolled over their forces in a way. He could still feel the Nightmare Man digging into his side and injecting him full of fear....

No!

These were children! He couldn't just turn away from the scene. No matter how scared he was, he couldn't just let this happen. Alhena drew his sword, feeling the Celestial metal sing. First things first. He had to draw the attention away from the kids.

The wind whipped to life through the trees, howling with a terrible ferocity. Alhena took to the air, identifying the Fearling who had grabbed one of the little girls. There was no warning. No battlecry. The Geminar simply swung his sword, firing off a blade of pressurized air so dense that it could cut through metal, let alone a Fearling. He was going to cleave the monster in half before it got to any kid. That would happen over his dead body.

The Horse was a nomad. He had long forgotten when he had not wandered, keeping to one place instead of eternally traveling the lands of the planet he lived upon. It had likely been when he had lived on Aquarius, a more peaceful time when Zhi Liu had still been in his life and the worst pressure in his life had been what his family had thought. Now, there were many pressures, from where Zhi Liu was to what he should actually do with his life. He traveled to Earth as free as a horse might be...

...and yet he also did not. Niulang had long come to wonder whether he was doing the right thing. He stayed away from most of his fellow celestials, from most immortals in fact, adamant that too many connections might draw him into a struggle. This belief seemed to be correct since the last celestial he had allowed himself to grow close to had convinced him to help in a battle right before he had died.

This was exactly what he had wanted to avoid. He wanted peace and had long ago come to the conclusion that battle was normally not the way to reach it. Yet, he now found himself questioning this very thought. With every question he seemed to give himself a bit more lee way.

There are always some battles worth fighting. It had been he who had presented such an argument to the White Tiger, firmly confident that her belief that keeping out of every battle was wrong. As he found himself near Santoff Claussen he allowed himself to indulge such an idea again.

The air was thick with darkness, with taint. Exactly why became clear as screams tore through the air. Traveling with a swiftness more befitting beast than man, he came across a fairly horrendous scene. His lip curled slightly and, within that moment, he knew he could not walk away. To do so would be falling back on his own arguments. He had not entirely agreed with Lord Byakko's actions despite understanding them. These were children and he knew that they were not just going to die if Hebrew turned. They would become something far worse.

How ironic that he seemed to be falling in line with the very arguments that his father had once spouted and that he had disagreed with. Perhaps old age was coming to him.

With a fair amount of ease, he spread out a large expanse of yang energy. Past experience has told him that both Nightmare Men and fearlings alike despised it. It would likely work well in getting them away from the children at least.

What doesn't kill me
 might make me kill you.

When the boy riding the winds raced into the clearing, Skoll let out an exasperated sigh. It seemed impossible to do anything without the forces of Good coming to ruin everything. This was so remote, such a perfect attack, and yet here they are, swinging swords and casting their light magic. He growled lowly and watched them as they attacked his Fearlings.

The children let out a scream as a gust of wind rushed passed them, nearly knocking them off their feet. It seemed like the light haired boy didn't care that the Fearlings were crawling over a child, nor that there were children in the vicinity at all. Skoll squinted at him, analyzing him. Usually people came to the children's rescue, but he seemed more focused on killing the Fearlings than protecting who they held captive. How wholly interesting.

Before he could think much more on it, light flooded the area, brightening the nigh-moonless night. It was powerful, blinding. Skoll had to close his eyes. He could hear the shrieks of the Fearlings. In the light, they burned, an audible sizzling noise under their cries. The air smelt of burning. So potent was the smell that the children had to cover their noses. Skoll was especially affected, burying his nose into the ground for a moment. While Skoll was distracted, the children quickly ran towards Niulang. He seemed like their saviour, with his light magic and calm demeanour. When the burnt smell died down a little, Skoll raised his head again and growled, his back arching as he watched the children surround Niulang.

"You'll regret not leaving well enough alone," he growled before bounding towards Niulang. His great paws pounded against the earth as his opened his maw, making to bite at Niulang, maybe take a limb off. The taste of his blood would be so sweet on his tongue, and Niulang looked lean and healthy enough that his meat would be just as satisfying.

The Fearlings, their group of ten now eight, were not too pleased with the light show. But, the creature that had cast it was strong against them and, though not creatures of much logic, the Fearlings knew not to aggravate someone who could kill them with ease. Instead, the swarming mass of darkness surrounding Tall Willa turned on Alhena. A long shadowy hand reached for him, swiping at him to slam him down into the snow.

This was a horrible, horrible idea. He should have alerted Antares before he hopped into the fray, but it was far too late to backtrack now. Luckily, though, it seemed that he wasn't alone in this fight.

A brilliant flash flooded the clearing, setting the snow ablaze with golden light. The Fearlings screeched in agony, a familiar sound to a battle-worn Alhena. He couldn't stop thinking back to the fall of the constellations. The screams. The acrid smoke in the air. The pounding of his heart in his ears. The feel of the agony in his side.

Alhena managed to shake himself out of it just as the Fearlings turned on him. Good. Better him than the children. What was not so good, though, was that he hardly had time to prepare himself.

The Geminar zipped clumsily to the side, not nearly quick enough to avoid the clawed hand that shot out to swat him out of the air. sharp edges clipped his leg, sending him tumbling out of the air and plunging toward the snow. Gritting his teeth, Alhena inhaled sharply. He needed to get himself together!

He caught himself just in time before he hit the ground, the cold night air howling as he funneled it in a cushion underneath him. Deftly, with practiced skill, he propelled himself forward at the nearest Fearling, bringing his sword down with all the strength his enhanced magic would allow. He intended to cleave the damned thing in half.

He was barely keeping track of the fight going on between the newcomer and the wolf. A part of him knew that this was actually a bad match. Niulang had the light. He was supposed to be the one getting rid of the Fearlings. He'd clear them out faster. But someone also had to protect the children from being turned, and that Anti-Guardian wolf was just complicating things. Alhena let out a quiet curse in Gemini. He was thinking too much. He just had to fight these Fearlings off first and keep them from getting to the children.

While Niulang's magic had not worked in the manner that he had intended, the light energy had done enough. It had proved to be just as harmful as he had known it to be, causing a clear amount of pain to the foul creatures and giving the children enough time to run. More importantly, it put their actions to a pause. He imagined that the only reason it had not inobilized them was due to all the fear in the air.

He had hardly expected the children to scatter to him as if he were their father. It was...somewhat troublesome, considering that they were in a fight. He would have to split his attention, something that would certainly place both him and the children in danger considering there was a presence of fearlings and what he could only assume was an anti-guardian. He should only be thankful that he was used to dealing with curious children.

He could practically taste the fear coming from the children near him as the beast approached him, a child or two seeming to scoot closer towards him. While instinct did tell Niulang that he should fear the beast before him, the celestial was hardly all horse. He was also a man and, as a result, merely flashed the anti-guardian a chilling smile. "People always say that," he mused, an almost mischievous look in his eyes, "But I find I regret few things." Particularly when it involves people who thought they knew how his life should be run. No mutt would scare him, particularly a foolish one.

While he was lithe, the celestial was not without his own ways of fighting. After all, his parents had made sure to pass down what they knew to him before he had been exiled. As such, it was with a fair amount of ease that he avoided the warg's attack, jaws snapping only on thin air. Making to move quickly, he let fire dance on his fingers before casting it out towards the wolf. The attack had been large and unconcentrated, allowing for it to it possibly hit one of the nearby fearlings.

What doesn't kill me

As the Fearlings send Alhena plummeting to the Earth, the children let out another cry, which was promptly cut off as Alhena was able to cushion himself with the wind. The were relieved. That was until the over sized wolf began attacking their protector. No place felt safe at that moment, but they clung to Niulang's robes, following his movements. They were in awe with his magic, the way he cast his elemental magic with ease. They had seen magic before, but never wielded so masterfully in battle. No matter how impressive the fire was, both Skoll and the Fearlings saw it coming. Fire was not Skoll's favourite enemy. Being covered in fur as he was, it was easy to set him ablaze. The moment he saw the fire dance up from Niulang's fingers, he readied to pounce out of the way. The fire hit a tree, but thankfully, due to the cold, wet weather of Siberia, the flames did not harm it. With a dangerous growl, Skoll landed heavily in the light snow, sending up a flurry of it around him. Before it even had time to settle, his great hind legs pushed him up and sent him flying towards Niulang, maw open to take a bite out of him. Missing once was an embarrassment and now he was frustrated. The man was hardly fighting, he was just sending out light shows.

The swarm of Fearlings had many eyes, all watching each direction as they consumed and poured their shadows into the young girl. The fire was nothing, the mass of shadow swinging one way to avoid it, Alhena's blade getting much the same treatment. There was a chilling noise then, drowning out the sound of Tall Willa's screams as they grew louder. It was laughter. Children's laughter. And not just one child, several children were laugh. The laughter was just a mimicry, it didn't sound real, but hollow and echoing. It was warped, a far cry from the joyous laughter you'd hear from children playing on a Saturday morning. The dark mass swung with the shape of a hand at Alhena once more, looking to crush him.

It was a good thing the other person had stepped in to protect the children. Otherwise, dealing with the Fearlings and the Anti-Guardian would have been impossible. It seemed that the other wielded fire magic. He didn't have much time to analyze much else because the Fearlings were coming after him again in a swarm of darkness.

Alhena spun out of the way, taking advantage of the fire Niulang had thrown out. While it was weak and had only grazed over the Fearlings, he could make good use of it. There was a reason he had always been put in units with fire users. He could coax and control the blaze.

Taking a deep breath, the Geminar motioned quickly as he zipped through the air, pulling some of the fire that had missed the Fearlings towards himself. The flames roared as he spun them around himself in a ring, blocking off the darkness from reaching him before he suddenly charged forward, determined to help the girl that had been caught by an overextending piece of darkness.

He swirled the fire around his sword, bringing the blaze to a sharp focus along the sharp edge by simply adding oxygen. Taking care to focus the air to contain the fire in a sharp blazing point along his sword, Alhena swung out at the Fearling, aiming to separate it from the child and perhaps slash off a chunk of it.

Niulang's fire had missed, but it had not gone without its use due to the other- one who was a stranger but not entirely- who had clearly found some way to utilize it. He might have thought upon it had they not been in a fight and one which needed quick action. It was a difficult situation for once such as himself. He was not a warrior, merely a herdsman who had learned all he knew from his parents or his own efforts. The only times he had needed to put such skills into use had been on Earth, but a man who had spent most of his life as a father and a wanderer had little reason to be fighting. He lacked the strategy that came with one who either held such training or had been on the battlefield. If anything, he was thinking on his feet.

He was quite sure that it was pure luck that it was working so far.

The wolf was clearly angry that he had missed. However, with ire came predictability and poor actions. Expecting the action before it came, Niulang dodged the bite best he could. Attempting to keep the children safe as well led to some restriction in his movement, but he had been well taught and while it had been close it missed.

The Aquarian was losing his patience though. There were far too many fearlings left and the wolf had to be dealt with. He was quite sure that more harm would come about between him trying to keep the children safe and only having the help of the other male.

It was a risky move but he was determined. He had practiced it before for at least a year and never gotten it quite right. However, it was better than nothing. Carefully, he used his light magic to form beings of light. They were nothing close to what he wanted. They were mere puppets, mindless and without will. Moreover, they flickered, not entirely whole. Not wishing to waste too much energy, he brought forth only two.

Skoll was becoming very, very frustrated now. It seemed unfair that this man, with children clung to his robes, could side step him so easily. After snapping at thin air, Skoll found the ground rushing to meet him. His snout stuck into the snow. It was cold, and not at all comfortable, Skoll never cared for snow. He raised his head back up, shaking the snow off of his fur. Skoll growled loudly, and turned around with a plan to rush at this damned mage once again. But, in the time he'd been face planted into the snow, Niulang had managed to shape a man of light. Oh, that was just not good, especially considering that the Fearlings were already dealing with the little winter sprite and his wind. Though the light hurt his eyes, Skoll turned on it. He wondered, as he went to snap at the light creature, if this would do anything. It was made of pure light, and he'd feel ridiculous if he just phased right through it. This was attack all just on the hope that there was some sort of solidity to the light that could be attacked.

The Fearlings weren't fairing so well either now. The fire cut through them, their screams echoing over the area. The girl was freed for a moment and she stumbled forward, her body shaky. Her breathing was ragged, her skin white and clammy, looking like it was about to tip over into the grey colour. Her face was streaked with tears. She let out a scream that sounded raw as, on wobbly legs, she ran forward towards Alhena, arms out. There was an animalistic need for survival in her eyes, full of fear and adrenaline. Willa was just about to him when the mass of shadows, a little smaller than before, consumed her form once more, engulfing her in shadows as she wailed and reached for Alhena, calling for his help. The mass swirled around Willa, focusing on her for the moment before stilling suddenly, her screamed quieted once more. The darkness hung in the air for a moment before quivering and letting out a long groan. It then rushed at Alhena, the shape of the very tip of the shadows at a sharp point, searching to impale his body.

Alhena did not stop even once to question the amount of danger he was in. Seeing the Fearlings target this young girl was enough to make his blood boil. He could still remember the darkness slowly consuming Gemini. It had crawled forward in a large flood, swallowing everyone and everything in its path, turning their own against them.

"Oi!" Alhena yelled as he spun his blade in front of him, "If you want to take someone, take me!"

The Geminar fired off blades of wind that whistled forth, concentrated carefully to slice away at the darkness. However, there was simply too much at the moment, and he doubted it was doing anything. His blue eyes darted frantically across the mass to locate the child who had been reaching out to him. The moment he caught the slightest glimpse of her movement, he dove forward with a blur of speed. He slashed into the Fearlings with his sword, white aura crackling around him as windspeeds kicked up to blow away the Fearlings in a torrent. He reached out into the darkness, grimacing as fear gripped at his senses. He focused on the pain in his leg from the cuts he had received earlier in the fight to distract from the terror. With a cry, he wrapped his arms around the girl in an effort to tear her out of the darkness and shield her with his body.

It was becoming clear that the wolf was becoming frustrated. It was an understanding reaction. After all, despite Niulang's situation he seemed to be doing fairly well as far as he was concerned. It brought a certain amount of relief to his person since as long as he was standing and doing relatively well then the situation could be dealt with to some extent. He could only hope that he and the other male were enough to deal with both the fearlings and the wolf. After all, they were quite outnumbered.

In the creature's frustration, he appeared to turn his focus to one of the light creatures he had brought forth. While they were unstable creatures, they were not so easily destroyed. Missing it just slight, the creature seemed to weave around Skoll, stretching its light from one place to another as easily as a shadow might.

Yet, instead of turning it focus upon the wolf it turned to its natural opposite. Attention focused upon the beasts of darkness, the two turned their attention to the fearlings and the darkness. Mere puppets on strings, they acted out their purpose. In a flurry of light, they cast a bast of light.

Niulang's gaze shifted to the wolf, deciding to spread out what he did. There was little telling what would happen if the wolf was no longer present, but it was clear that he would act as a distraction to the greater threat either way. Giving little warning, he cast fire- concentrated and more controlled- at the wolf.

What doesn't kill me
 might make me kill you.

As Alhena came speeding towards the Fearlings, they merely let out a mocking child's laugh. Look at this ridiculous boy, throwing himself into the darkness so recklessly. If you wanted them to take you, Alhena, they had no qualms with that. You seem weak, pitiful even. Alhena was hardly worth the Fearling's time. They were more concerned by the ball of light headed their way, which they quickly moved to avoid, but which threw them right into one of Alhena's blades of wind. Fearlings shrieked in pain as two of them were sliced in half, their shadow halves lifting into the air as smoke. They were pushed to the side by Alhena's winds, though their tendrils were still anchored in Willa. Still, Alhena was able to take up Willa in his arms, though the shadows still clung, languidly spilling through her nose, her mouth. She shook and clung to Alhena, letting out ragged sobs, sputtering, gagging, trying to get the shadows out of her.

It was only a moment's breath, though, and the Fearlings rose once more, albeit their mass just half the size now of what it had been when the two Celestials had begun their attack. A moan came from the wavering form as they came to their senses, the pain subsiding. They hung the air, seeming to be calculating briefly where to go now. Anger rose up in them, and they ripped through the air towards Alhena. If you wanted the Fearlings to take you, Alhena, they will oblige. Willa gagged as the shadows entered her once again, though it was less, because now they were also upon Alhena, trying to seep in through his ears, his nose, his mouth, their dark tendrils searching to get a hold on him. They sought to intoxicate him with fear.

Skoll was distracted momentarily by the shrieking from his Fearlings. Fire flew past him, crashing into the snow and melting it. He glanced over.

“You missed,” he teased, smiling with his fanged teeth at Niulang. He was teasing, of course, after just missing his own attack on the light summon.

The Fearlings were doing well, but Skoll was becoming concerned. Not one child had been truly damaged yet. If he left Santoff Claussen without any of this attack going through, he doubted The Nightmare King would be too happy with him. He gritted his teeth, deciding that the light summon was the least of his worries. He had to do something, to take matters into his own hands if the Fearlings couldn't do their job. It occurred to Skoll that, even if he lost this battle, he could do as much damage as possible. Maybe the children could bring their story to their little village, telling of how a wolf has consumed one of them whole, tossing him up in the air and chomping down on it. Oh, how delicious it would be. Surely, North will hear of this attack if he could just make an impact.

Skoll turned as William the Youngest the Fifth let out a cry for his sister when she was pulled from the darkness. He looked small, slight, and easy to snap with his mouth. The warg bounded forward, clearing the distance in just a few bounds. This beast, so near to Niulang, was massive, larger than any average wolf. Though, that couldn't be meditated on for long, as his teeth sunk into the flesh of William's forearm, crushing , cracking and popping. William let out a scream, which was cut off sharply as Skoll picked the boy up and tossed him several feet across the field. William's body fell heavily into the snow, the blood from his arm tainting the snow, the taste of which was now in Skoll's mouth. He growled lowly, feeling his blood pump heavily through his veins and the arches of hunger twist his stomach. Skoll had just one goal now, being lead by his stomach... consume. He bounded after his prey that he'd just flung, hardly having to use his eyes as the fragrance of the child's blood filled the air.

Alhena clutched the child firmly to his chest, struggling to tear her from the Fearling's grasp. He had managed to get rid of two of the monsters, luckily, but they were stubborn. He felt the darkness wrapping around his ankle, dragging him back down so that it could creep up further. With every blink, Alhena could feel the fear slowly starting to assault his senses. Antares approaching him with the intent to kill, eyes blank. Adrian plunging under the ice and being carried away by the roaring river. Gemini being set aflame as children cried.

No.

The cries of the girl in his arms brought him to his senses. Alhena summoned his magic around him, anger making it sharpen into a heavy crackle full of courage. He hadn't fallen to their fear before, and he certainly wasn't going to do it now. "Begone!" he snapped, releasing a burst of heavy wind that howled around him, tearing away the darkness from him and the girl, driving it away.

"You're going to be okay," Alhena told the child he was holding as he climbed higher into the air. "Just hold onto me."

Holding the girl close, he worked on pulling the cold from her, trying to maintain some warmth. He shifted her into his left arm as she wound her arms around his neck to hold on. "White Tiger's winds... heed my call." he breathed, feeling his magic shift. The air howled, forming a solid barrier between him and the Fearlings that pursued. The moment the darkness came into contact, it exploded into a flurry of wind blades to slice at the oncoming Fearlings if they dared to push closer.

 SKY FULL OF STARS

A great deal was happening at once and Niulang could only imagine that this is what it was like to be on a battlefield. Perhaps it was a parody of it even. He could hardly know. He had never stepped into the heat of battle. His fire had only ever been used to protect in the past, if not himself then his own children. His light used even less, more a power used in practice. His blade was used more often then it. He was a poor man outside of his comfort zone, a traveler who had wandered a bit too far and chosen to stay instead of continue on.

What a fool the Horse was, yet such was only natural. He always had been and it was a trait that was unlikely to change. After all, his heart governed him more than his mind did.

It was a troublesome afflictment to have at the moment. He could not protect everyone; he was not foolish enough to think he could. However, he was sure that he could at least prevent the worst from happening. In order to do so, he would have to limit where the wolf and fearlings could go. If they got caught up in his magic, then he had little sympathy for them. From there, he supposed that the attacking could be left to his summons and the other male. If they stayed long enough, then he could help as well.

A raised eyebrow met Skoll's words. Words hung on the tip of his tongue. However, he held them back and he soon found himself quite glad he had. The wolf had turned its attention upon the being- tainted, a child who cried for the other- just a mere distance away. His eyes narrowed as he attacked, throwing the child like a rag doll. Not dead yet, but injured.

His lips pursed, but he made no sound. After all, an opening had been given. The Aquarian had, for a moment, drifted from both the attention of fearling and wolf. Taking advantage of it, he cast a powerful ring of fire, making to have it surround wolf and fearlings alike. He wished to restrict them and allow for time.

The light creatures went by unaffected, not only by the fearlings but Niulang's action. They continued on, pushing forth to accomplish what they wished to. Returning to a more solid form- flickering and fragile- they let loose their light towards the fearlings- slashing and burning.
