Caspian nodded at Ninianne's answers. That was good, but like she said adjusting was going to be a bit of a hurdle to climb...but there was always something to adjust to, so in a way he supposed it was something to be expected. Nothing could stay the same forever, after all.

"Even if the past can not be revitalized," Caspian began slowly, "We can always look forward to a brighter future. I am sure that perhaps Avalon will do very well in the coming future, especially as more people here on Earth begin to believe in magic and the legends. I have noticed some mortals are paying closer attention to the tales of the past."

He looked at Ninianne with another smile. They sat there for a while in the sunlight next to the clear pool of water. He felt like perhaps they were being watched, but the calm surroundings and peacefulness of the area made it seem like it was not exactly a bad thing.

Soon enough, and sure enough, they did come out. Ninianne commented on the curiosity of the new inhabitants, earning a small laugh from Caspian.

"So it seems," Caspian said, still smiling as he noticed a small wood sprite climb up and begin to tug on his sleeve. Caspian waved back to the small creature, "Greetings, new friend."

For the first time in a while, Caspian felt like he was finding some peace. After so much doubt and chaos... perhaps the Byakko had been right all along... This was nice. And he knew the visit was still just beginning. But he wanted to also be sure he wouldn't overstay his welcome.

He would be sure to figure out and watch for any indicators of that- but for now, he was content to just enjoy his time here in Avalon.

Ninianne nodded with a gentle smile. Whatever came from the changes that Avalon was experiencing she did believe that there was, as Caspian put it, a bright future ahead. It was not without some challenges and indeed, not immune to threat or destruction. With the war gaining such momentum all would have to be on their guard. But still, she felt as if Avalon was perhaps better suited now to stand against any possible future attack than it had been. Magic flowed now, not as a gentle trickle but as a great rushing river all through it. And there were now the new residents who tended and defended the isle.

"They are," she replied when he mentioned mortals paying more attention to the stories. "Of course, that too comes with its benefits and new challenges. Of course, belief does benefit many of us that make up the immortal world. But it puts the mortals at greater risk. The more open they become, the closer the war draws to them." In all honesty Ninianne did not mind the idea of belief in magic growing once again. She had grown up in an age when many wholeheartedly and openly believed in the fair folk, spirits, monsters and demons, and enchantment. And in her immortal life she had watched such beliefs fade, giving way to scientific understanding of the more tangible world. It was the way of the world to change and develop and so she had accepted it as she came to be invisible, she adjusted her methods of defending justice from presenting herself in the great halls or scolding wrongdoers directly to being the voice that whispered more in their minds than their ears. But she had also watched the world turn in cycles of seasons and interests and such. So perhaps it was only natural that belief too would rise and fall and rise again like the tides. But she could not help some small worry for the innocents that belief would make more susceptible to the ravages of this war.

The curiosity of some of Avalon's inhabitants was hardly a surprise. Especially now that the pair had stopped and were staying in one place. Still, it was amusing to see the little wood sprite appear to investigate so closely. Bark-like features drew into an excited smile when Caspian greeted the little creature.

"Greetings," he replied, the small leaves on his form rustling cheerfully. Speaking somewhat haltingly, Ninianne suspected that the wood sprite was still young and likely hadn't quite mastered human tongues. Still, he was quite charming as he settled himself beside Caspian. "Friend likes Avalon?"

Caspian listened carefully to Ninianne as she detailed the problem with more belief. True...belief empowered most immortals and magics. But like she also pointed out- with awareness came a closeness to the war that would no doubt bring danger to those who now found themselves closer to the strange world that had never been too far from their own. He knew it was concerning… but perhaps it was due to his own experience with the Golden Age and how they knew of the war that made him feel as if perhaps knowing of the war was better than being unaware.

“As difficult as it is, perhaps knowing of the magic in the world hence the belief, will be a good thing? Even though the war is close by- people can prepare better if they know what is happening. That being said, I wish the war had not come here. And I wish that the sins of the world I came from had not infected this place.” His voice became softer as he spoke. Even if he was not one of the people who put forth the plan that led to Pitch Black’s existence, he had been there during that moment in history. It almost felt unreal - knowing he had been a witness to such a moment. And it was now here.

“Just because you know of the war, doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily be pulled in.” Caspian said with a weak smile. He really hoped that was the case. Hoped that perhaps he would no longer be pulled in by such conflicts he wanted nothing more to do with what had happened. But he had a feeling that at least for him it would not be the case, so it was all he could hope that for at least others...there was a chance that the horrors of the war from ages past did not touch them like it had for him. That hopefully he was just a special case.

Even though there was a strong part of him that knew he wasn’t just a special case and that there would be plenty of others as the war stretched on.

Still there were good things, things that reminded him of light and the things he could cherish and enjoy. For example, the small wood sprite beside him. A new friend.

Nodding, Caspian felt his smile grow a tad bigger as the sprite rustled happily. Caspian nodded at the question, “Yes, I quite do. Avalon is a lovely place, I’m thankful for the opportunity to see it.”

"I'm sure both mortals and immortals will figure out ways to adjust and handle a wider awareness of magic," Ninianne replied to Caspian's words. "And being aware of the challenges a new situation may present makes preparing easier." She gave a small smile, thinking back on her own past experiences. "It took some time to figure out new methods and precautions when the transition was the other way around and mortals were forgetting their once plentiful belief."

She had no doubt that whatever challenges came with this rise of belief they could be overcome. It was just a matter of being prepared. She still worried for innocents caught in the crossfire but she had seen too many wars to have delusions of that being prevented completely. They could only try to minimize the collateral damage as much as possible. Ninianne gave a nod of understanding at Caspian's mention of wishing the war had never come here. Of course it would have been ideal if the ravaging of the Nightmare forces had stopped at the stars. If earth's own inhabitants could have remained ignorant of the darkness and the survivors of the violence could have found a safe and peaceful refuge on the planet. But that was not to be the case and so they would have to do what they could with the situation.

She smiled in agreement at the mention of knowing not necessarily pulling people in. It might increase the risk but it was still possible for them to remain unaffected, especially if they used the knowledge to keep themselves safer. "Perhaps that is something the Guardians can help with as well. Making sure to watch over believers and help them understand the risks and how to avoid them."

The wood sprite smiled brightly and nodded. It was always nice to hear home praised and Avalon certainly was a wonderful place, that was why the sprite and his family lived here. "See all of Avalon?" The sprite asked.
