Goyo looked down at the body, or what was left of it, and just sighed. This was going to be awkward. He hadn't actually meant to kill the guy. Greg had been in the process of having one of his 'alternative' meals when the guy had stepped in. He'd even swung at him and yelled at he was calling the police. He never got the chance to of course but that didn't really matter. What matter was the fact that Greg now had two bodies to deal with instead of one. The first, the police could chalk up to an animal attack. While the town wasn't exactly small, it was still small enough and far enough into the jungle that wild animals came through every now and again. But the other one, the beaten pulp he'd left behind, was a different matter. Gregorio sat back on a stack of palettes in the empty alleyway and just stared at the bodies, waiting.

He had to give the guy credit, he hadn't been a bad fighter. He actually managed to get some hits in before Goyo really got warmed up. Once he was warmed up, the guy didn't stand a chance against him but he wasn't a complete bore at least. That was probably why he'd gone overboard. It had been just a little satisfying to tear into the guy. Just a little too nice, a little too easy. And now he was dead.

But Goyo wasn't waiting for an idea on what to do with the bodies. He already knew how to take care of that. All he had to do was toss them out in the jungle where most people didn't go and nature would take care of that for him. He was waiting to see if the guy was going to stick around or not. Most of the time, his victims moved on. When they didn't, it was because of shock usually. Which was awkward but something he could deal with more or less. But this guy, this guy had actually tried to lecture him before Greg ignored him and hit back. Which was admirable to a certain extent, but if he didn't pass on immediately and Greg had to deal with him, that was going to take everything to a whole new level of awkward. It was almost tempting to just leave and let the guy wander around in limbo for a while if he did come back. Unfortunately, that wasn't exactly something he was allowed to do. Oh well. Hopefully if he did get stuck, the guy wouldn't be too put off by his blood splattered across Goyo's shirt.

Somewhere in Valhalla, an alarm went off. Haley finished off the horn of ale she had been holding (point of drinking horns: You can't put them down until they are empty) and pushed herself up from the table. Break time was over. Somewhere, somehow, a warrior worthy of recognition had just died, and it was her turn to go and collect them.

She was a little surprised when the door opened to South America. She did not get to make many trips there; while worthy warriors existed all around the world, the Norse had a fixation on ancestry as well as accomplishment, and there were definitely less Nordic people in this part of the world. And yet, here she was, her Valkyrie magic guiding her to the site of battle and death, and the soul of the recently de...

"What the fuck?!"

The scene was not what Haley had expected. There were... two bodies, one mangled like it had been torn up by an animal, and one simply... bludgeoned to death. This latter one had clearly put up a fight, and she knew with the certainty of a Valkyrie that this was the soul, lingering, that she was supposed to deliver. What she did not expect was the third guy, very much alive, sitting nearby, staring into space.

Haley did not usually arrive when the killer was still around. If he was the killer, that is. She doubted that he could see her, anyway, so after a moment of hesitation, the Viking girl turned to the lingering soul.

"You have died well, and you have been deemed worthy of Valhalla by Odin the All-Father, as a reward of your bravery." she extended a hand to the soul "Come with me."

Of course the guy didn't just move on like he'd hoped. Instead, his spirit reappeared over the body just a few seconds after Goyo sat down. The ghost looked between his mangled body and Greg, looking a little shocked but mostly angry. Goyo did his best to pretend like he couldn't see the guy. He looked away from the body and the spirit and studied the graffiti on the wall of the building next to him. It wasn't that he was embarrassed exactly, or that he regretted it, it was just awkward when the guy you just pumbled to death came back and started talking again.

"You killed me?" The guy asked him after a few more seconds of staring. Well, at least he knew the guy wasn't stuck because he didn't know he was dead. Which meant he was either sticking around for unfinished business or maybe because he was waiting for someone to come pick him up. Either way, Goyo was going to have to tell him something. Before he got a chance though, he heard someone else speak. Greg whipped his head around at the voice to see who was standing there. He let out a cuss in Spanish.

"They sent a girl?" He said, still speaking Spanish. Now he felt bad. If he'd known a girl was going to be the one coming, he might have bothered cleaning up the bodies some. She didn't need to see this kind of thing. No wonder she cussed when she showed up. If it'd been a man, that'd be one thing. But some chick didn't need to be apart of this. What was her deity thinking?

The soul turned to look at her in a moment of confusion, which Haley could totally understand. She had been in the same shoes once, freshly and violently dead and finding out that she was the subject of a special delivery to Old Norse Heaven. People these days were very rarely prepared for that. She was ready to give the guy a moment to voice any questions... but just then, the killer turned to look at her too, and said something in Spanish that sounded a lot like swearing. Haley was able to recognize Spanish swearwords. She had spent a lot of time in a big city.

>>"They sent a girl?"

The Valkyrie's eyebrows rose up as she rested her shield hand on her hip.

"Excuse me?" she tilted her head at the guy with a healthy dose of annoyance "Have you ever heard of a male Valkyrie, dumbass?"

This guy was alive, apparently had just killed two people, and he was going to start shit with her about being female?... Some people were just the worst.

Goyo frowned, not necessarily at her, just at the situation in general. Of course the viking lady could understand spanish. He hadn't exactly been expecting it but it wasn't that unusual either. She was getting all up in arms though over nothing. It wasn't as though he'd told her to go back to the kitchen or something like that. He certainly could have but he didn't. And yet here she was, acting as though he'd gone after her personally or something.

"Lady, I haven't even heard of a valkyrie before." He switched to English, for her sake. Peru wasn't exactly known for it's deep understanding of other cultures, especially not back in his day. And sure, he'd seen a lot of weird stuff before, he'd met with plenty of messengers of the dead too, but valkyries were new.

The guy was making a face like it was her being ridiculous. It was one thing that he was sitting there with two mangle corpses and able to see her - and it was another to start crap about something trivial, like a Valkyrie being a 'girl.' Haley had no time for this nonsense.

>>"Lady, I haven't even heard of a valkyrie before."

He had switched to English, but the attitude remained the same. Haley scoffed, masking the fact that she had barely known what Valkyries were before she got turned into one herself. For all the things wrong with the guy, she could not really fault him for that one.

"Well, now ya have." she shrugged, turning back to look at the corpses "I'd ask if you killed these two, but I doubt you just like to idly sit around next to dead people, so. What are you, exactly?..."

Now he was frowning at her. The lady scoffed at him as though he was supposed to know what the hell a valkyrie was. As though it was his job to know every mythological whatever that roamed the planet. He couldn't help but snarl at her just a little bit. While he didn't exactly intend to make her mad, she was certainly starting to rub him the wrong way.

"Human." Sorta. "I just work for people who like to make sure dead people don't clutter up this world too much." There. Now she had an answer. It was vague but it wasn't exactly like she was being the most forthcoming about who and what she was. If she wanted more from him, she'd have to give him more to work with.

"How am I supposed to be sure you're who you say you are and not just here to run off with something that doesn't belong to you?"

>>"Human. I just work for people who like to make sure dead people don't clutter up this world too much."

A human, working for... what, a supernatural cleaning crew? That was weird. Haley was vaguely aware that there were humans with powers that could... how did they say it?... commune with the spirits, talk to ghosts and whatnot, although her work never really intersected with them, since people from Valhalla only ever came back when Odin ordered them to fight. So this guy was some kind of a low-lever shaman employee or something. Great.

>>"How am I supposed to be sure you're who you say you are and not just here to run off with something that doesn't belong to you?"

"You don't. But you also can't really stop me." Haley noted flatly "I'm taking this guy to Valhalla because that's where he belongs. Not to me. To my boss. So." she glanced at the soul again "Let's go."

Goyo raised his eyebrows at her answer and smirked. "Of course not." He didn't know exactly what she was or what she could do so he wouldn't discredit her completely, but she sure didn't look like much. She had plenty of attitude but he had a feeling that she wouldn't get too far against him in a real fight. And while he still wasn't exactly looking for one, it was a little too hard not to poke fun at her and her prickly attitude.

"Have fun with Van Halen." He smiled and gave them an almost friendly wave. Ok yes he was doing it to mess with her. It was just too much fun. He almost wanted to hear what snappy retort she'd come up with next.

>>"Of course not."

part of Haley (the Valkyrie part) secretly wished the guy would actually try to stop her. He looked like he could put up a fight, and a good fight was appreciated; she was getting tired oft he mock battles of Valhalla, even if they usually ended with someone dying (again) before walking off for more ale. She herded the confused soul of the recently deceased warrior towards the door to Valhalla.

>>"Have fun with Van Halen."

The Valkyrie paused, her Viking pride keeping her from leaving as she basically pushed the soul through the portal, and turned back to the guy.

"Are you trying to sound dumb?" she arched an eyebrow. If he was trying, he was definitely doing a great job so far.

So he had managed to get under her skin a little with that comment. If he hadn't, she would have just kept going and ignored him. And where was the fun in that?

He gave her a smile, one that almost looked like a snarl. "I don't know. Are you trying to sound like a bitch?" Was it an insult if it was true? He would debate that it wasn't. He could still hope that she'd turn a different color for the comment though. That's all he really expected from her though. Most women just got angry and left when insulted.

>>"I don't know. Are you trying to sound like a bitch?"

He really did think he was clever. Or was being intentionally dumb. Or he really, really did not know what a Valkyrie was. Either way, Haley had spent enough time in Valhalla by now to learn to not take any insults, even if they came from some dumb kid who could see dead people.

"Bitches" she said coolly, turning back to face him, as her powers summoned her sword and helmet "Got nothing on what I am, asshole."

And if he wanted a taste, he was about to get one.

"Ooo scary." He said, very unimpressed by her magical girl transformation into a viking. A sword and helm? Really? That would make no difference against someone like him. He had to frown a little though. "Who's letting you run around like that?"

He didn't like the idea of a woman warrior. Sure times had changed and he could respect any person's ability to fight, regardless of gender, but he still believed that women did not belong on the battlefield. They were too important to be out in the mess and gore that was fighting. It didn't matter that she was dead, she still didn't need to walking around with a sword thinking she was something she wasn't. He didn't know what kind of god she worked for but he did not like them.

He did not seem to be very impressed with her transformation into full battle gear, but she could also catch a glint of... what, hesitation? Disapproval?... in his eyes. She expected the next snarky comment before it even arrived.

>>"Ooo scary. Who's letting you run around like that?"

Well, at least that was an easy question.

"Odin, God of War and Death" Haley smirked, drawing her sword "So, are you gonna show me something, or keep barking?"

The guy might not have been all talk, but now he had pissed the Valkyrie off enough that she wanted to see if he could live up to the advertising.

Goyo frowned at her answer. A god of war and death was sending women out? Did he have no respect for them or the people on the battlefield? Was it some kind of sick joke to him? He let out a soft tch. Whoever this 'Odin' guy was, he hated him. There was nothing that made putting women out in the middle of death and gore acceptable. They were supposed to bring life, not death. It grated against his nerves and his aggravation was plenty apparent.

"Fine." He sighed. He got to his feet and brushed off his pants, not that it mattered much. The blood wasn't going anywhere and the dirt that was there was so ingrained into the fabric it may as well be a part of the design. He held a hand up in front of him and activated his mark. He could feel the small rush of power that came with it, like taking the top off of a new bottle of soda. Black lines appeared along his face, turning the jaguar jaw into a full skull filled with sharp teeth. His hands turned black as well and long, razor sharp claws grew out from his fingernails. Goyo gave her one of his wide, feral grins, the jaws of his tattoos parting slightly.

"Ta-da."
