A flying ship. That was new. New and terrifying. But not to the teen. To him it was just another challenge, just something else to use to his advantage. Things that sparked terror made idiots vulnerable. They forgot to pay attention to the little things – like the expensive jewels around their necks, easily slipped off with a quick cut made at just the right moment, or the wallets in their bags, or the phones in their pockets. Though phones were harder; there were those that had theirs out, and were taking pictures. Not that he needed those things…but sometimes they had valuable information about the owner. Passwords, contacts. And he could use the internet on the ones with data plans, which was convenient, it meant he didn’t have to hide away in some shitty coffee shop where they had wi-fi and could bang away at someone else’s data….at least until they were smart enough to terminate the service.

The best thing about pirate ships though….even ones like this…it was a fucking pirate ship. Pirates didn’t just lord their ships over people for no reason, it wasn’t just about being ominous. They had treasure on that ship. And if they were in the middle of pillaging and harassing beautiful girls then this…this was perfect. No one would give a fuck about some skinny twig boy, he could sneak onboard easily. Of course….the safest way….he didn’t really like that way. Because it meant shifting from shadow to shadow…and when he did that, well…

Inside his soul room, he could see that shadow smiling. Waiting. You know it will be faster.

Faster. But also more dangerous. And yet…

With how many people there were, scattering around and running in their terror, it was probably the only way he could without getting trampled by the mob. The boy bared his teeth and hissed at nothing, even as he let himself melt into those shadows. The world shifted – he could still perceive it, but no longer could it perceive him. He flitted from shadow to shadow, remaining only long enough to jump to the next. He could feel the Sheut’s tug, scraping fingernails gently in the back of his mind. But the boy hissed and maintained control. For now.

Only when he was in the shadow of the ship did he re-emerge, climbing up onto the deck, peering around warily. He saw no one, but there was probably still…a person there. Somewhere. The teen would only stay long enough to grab some treasure and get out.

Pirates had always been part of romantic tales. It was part of the formula: the dastardly villain swept in and caused havoc, the hero made things right, and maybe there was a girl. In reality, things were far more complex. Pirates were dastardly. If they took even a moment to consider the consequences of their actions, it was not something they showed on the surface. Captain Hook, in particular, was a man who seemed to relish in what he did. It came to him as naturally as striking fear into the hearts of men or taking advantage of the fact that he had a clever tongue that could charm just as easily.

His crew was filled with men who had hearts just as black as his own- except for one. Pippa fell into a routine that she only attempted to slip out of when her conscience hissed too loudly. What they do is wrong. You should leave. Just ask someone; people want to help. She ignored the pleas of her logic, only giving into what her heart wanted. A blade was always stayed, a person never killed by her hand. However, it did not mean that wrong was not committed. It was the price for her wish to travel.

Not worth it.

Pippa was onboard, as per usual. While she might have been a cabin boy, it was clear that the captain was shaping her up to go down the path of something less combative. If he wasn't, then he certainly had no plans to teach her how to use a weapon now. It was annoying, but she supposed that it was the easier path considering that it meant she was placed into far less dangerous situations.

Doing her rounds, she came around onto the deck.

Getting onboard was easy. Still felt wrong, it made the boy want to reach inside his head to that sming shadow and drive a pencil through his eyes just to kill that image. He didn't like Pharaoh. But he knew he needed him. They needed each other, but the boy was well aware that he was the one being used. When he made it to the deck, he stood for a moment and spat on the polished wood, sneering at it as if it somehow was to blame. But, he had no time to dawdle. The pirates would return, so he had to be swift.

It wouldn’t be hard to just slip into the shadows, you know. I couldshut up. No.

Mouse-like and sly, the impoverished miscreant thief crept away from the bow. There would be a door somewhere in the central cabin, leading to the lower decks. He crept low, crawling on his toes and fingertips, listening for anything. Movement. A lookout.

The sight of a shadow, a human shadow, and not his own, coupled with soft pattering was enough. They had left someone to watch in their absence. The boy clenched his fists, backing up as he bared his teeth, shifting into an offensive squat, but staying silent. He had a plan. He knew what to do. He could hear only his heartbeat and the breath in and out as he waited for the other to cross his path--

There.

The wild boy let out a loud hiss, lurching from his corner with the aim to tackle the lookout to the ground, arms flailing to throw punches as they fell. He was strong enough for one pirate.

Pippa paused. She had not heard anything, but she held that sort of...feeling that often came about wen one felt like they were being watched. It would have been easy to have dismissed it as paranoia. After all, she was a fairly paranoid person. However, she was also someone who had run across enough magical beings to know that there was usually a reason to act in such a manner. Besides, the most annoying of things were usually quite good at hiding.

She was quite prepared to search, when someone thrust themselves out of a corner. Swearing, the young woman quickly stumbled backwards, the speed of which came more out of experience than any real agility. Even a few months on the Jolly Roger had taught her that shadows were dangerous and that speed was best to have, particularly if they did not want to end up looking like a fool. Pan and his Lost Boys tended to make sure of that.

However, this was not a Lost Boy. The boy looked like he might have come right off of where they had stopped. Though, she was not entirely sure how he had gotten onto the ship. Whatever the details were, he looked about ready to claw her eyes out.

Damn it.

This child is trash
Esoteric tendencies Fire in my face If you aint with us Then you´re one of them
It was just some little boy. He looked scrawny, but taller than him – whoever this guy was he looked like a young adult, a bit older than the boy himself. And they were fast, too. Fast enough to move out of the way before he could knock the redhead over. But it wouldn’t matter. Just jumping back wouldn’t do any good. The boy learned at a young age that hesitation was the quickest way to die or get beat up. If he took even a second to think, he’d get beat to shit. He never hesitated. Always he was the first to strike, lashing with nails and teeth, with his skull if he had to, with anything available. So when the older male lurched backward, he moved forward right with them, sweeping a foot out to try to knock them over.

Whoever this person was they probably wouldn’t be pleased if he took their shit. They were obviously left behind as a lookout, which meant he had to make sure this man didn’t call for aid. He didn’t seem to have a whistle or anything on him, but there was probably some other way they could call for backup. A gunshot? A flare? Even if they didn’t have anything to call for the other pirates, they might have a weapon. And while he didn’t mind getting cut up – cut was better than dead – but if he could disarm them….then he’d have a weapon to threaten this piece of shit with.

He advanced, swiping with his fist, baring his teeth as he let out a growl. ”Give up.”

Let me know if you want any help. You know that I love to help.

Pharaoh was watching, far too amused for his own good. The boy gritted his teeth, shaking his head. ”Shut up, I don’t need you.” he muttered, not caring that he’d just hissed those words out loud. He could do this on his own. He was strong enough.

Mild irritation settled within Pippa. It seemed as if she was beginning to grow a habit of running into trouble, something which was less than ideal. For once, she found herself relatively glad that she tended to be taller than...well, most people. Quickly, she avoided the swipe directed at her.

The annoyance only grew at his words. The boy seemed to be almost ten years younger than her and seemed to be crazy. While it was not the oddest thing she had come across, she definitely was not taking orders from a kid, particularly since ignoring him would definitely come at the cost of her life. She should only hope that his less than ideal sanity was the only thing dangerous about him.

She settled a decidedly flat look on him. "Uh, yeah, how about get the fuck off this ship?" she said blandly, her hand going to where she normally kept her pepper spray.

Honestly I apologise he's so stinky
Esoteric tendencies Fire in my face If you aint with us Then you´re one of them
Why was this person so fucking annoying….annoying….it would just be easier if they stood aside….what did he care anyway? This wasn’t their ship, he could tell that much by the boy’s attire. This was no Captain, or even an officer at all. He looked like shit to be a real pirate, dressed like that he looked like the bitch boy they had to watch out for trouble so he could blow the horn just in time to get stabbed through the throat. Disposable. That was what this trash was, just like him. Only it was different because the boy was on his own, and chose to be alone, while this stupid punk was being used. What an idiot. Why was he defending the ship anyway?

At the other boy’s slurs, the teen gave a hiss and spat, working up a ball of saliva in his mouth to throw the asshole’s way. He shook his head vehemently, glaring as he shifted his stance, moving to the side. ”No.” He was definitely going to have trouble on his own though like this. The ass was reaching for something, was it a weapon? A club maybe? The teen was unarmed though...so if this bastard suddenly had a weapon the tables woudl turn completely. And he didn’t feel like getting stuck on this piece of shit.

You know what would be easier?

”Shut up.”

If you don’t, she might knock you on your ass. Then you leave with nothing but bruises.

He narrowed his eyes as he stepped forward. Pharaoh was the biggest asshole of them all, but he was also right this time. That son of a bitch was reaching for something he could use against the teen and he didn’t know what it was or how to defend against it. Which meant the shadows were his friend. But only for a moment. He only needed a moment. Anywhere there was a shadow. When he lunged this time, it wasn’t for the pirate - it was right toward his shadow.

The teen, in that moment, melted away into darkness, the ship disappearing. He could only see faint outlines like this, but it didn’t matter - he wasn’t staying in the shadows for long. Just long enough to get past the stupid pirate asshole and into the alcove so he could sprint down the stairs. Pirates kept their shit down below decks….he could do this.

When he re-emerged, he was quick to dart towards the stairway down below. He wasn’t strong, but he sure as shit could run.

Pippa did not appear to be visibly annoyed by the response that she received. After all, she was at the bottom of the totem pole. It was not unusual for others to speak to her rudely and even less unusual for others to act like they were better than her. Well, that and she was probably starting to become a bit too used to seeing children act like brats. Peter Pan and his little band of lost boys were not exactly pleasant. They were admittedly one of the few things that she could understand in regards to Captain Hook...well, outside of the whole murder business. As a result, the fact that a kid who appeared to be Sophie's age seemed to think he could boss her around was not too unusual. Annoying, but not odd.

The child was definitely off his rocker though and for a moment she thought that she could take advantage of that to get him off the ship. After all, he seemed to be splitting his attention now and then. A quick spray would likely do the trick and she might have the advantage.

Unfortunately, she was too slow.

The kid lunged away from her, clearly disappearing completely. Any shock she might have had lasted only a moment. "Goddammit, not again!" she swore. Pan was annoying enough, but now more shadow users were popping up? Great. Way to make her job a thousand times more difficult.

Exactly where the kid was heading seemed relatively obvious. After all, anybody- well, anybody who was not her- who snuck onto a pirate ship always headed to the same place: where the loot was. Quickly, she tucked away her pepper spray and took out her dagger before heading towards the lower deck.

One step ahead playing in the background like
Esoteric tendencies Fire in my face If you aint with us Then you´re one of them
He didn’t really know where he was going. At all. Only that it was below decks, that was where treasure was hidden. He just wanted a handful...just a fucking handful would do it, he’d be rich and that’d be all it took. But that boy….he was coming after the teen. He didn’t have much time. If he wanted to grab anything he had to hurry. He wasn’t slow by any means, but he didn’t know where he was going, either. Below decks….that was easy, but where after that? He followed along the nearest corridor, turning into the next...cabin? Door? Doorway...and he stopped.

This didn’t look like a treasury. There was pots and pans...some shitty looking tables….this was the galley.

And that boy….he was still coming after him. Shit, maybe if he hid he could get the other guy off his ass. The teen jolted, jumping over the first counter, heading toward the back wall. The pantry. He jumped up onto one of the counters, opening the pantry doors. One was full of disgusting smelling shit, another was full of beer or something else in a bottle, and one of them--

Wait, below. The cabinet under the sink. Or...if he didn’t want to smell like shit...there was a barrel in the back corner. He could….

No time. He dashed, creeping into the barrel’s farthest corner, squeezing himself into the tiny space there at the very very back. The good thing about being as thin as he was….he could hide. He could do this. That asshat wouldn’t find him in here.

Of course, the problem with trying to find the punk before he managed to get below deck was actually figuring out where below deck he was. It was a game that she had seen played many times before. Pan liked doing it often; however, the immortal child seemed to know the ship well and always aimed for places that either had people within them or near such places.

The only difference was that this kid was not Pan. Logically, she supposed that meant he would not know the layout, though he likely was aiming for whatever they stole- gold, in his mind no doubt. As such, he had likely ended up somewhere else. Where was a bit hard to pin down though considering how big the lower deck was.

Scowling, Pippa began going through rooms and searching. Coming to the kitchen, she began to search, opening whatever she could.

He didn’t know how to find anything down here. He’d gotten himself stuck in the...whatever they called it, the kitchen on the ship, which was great except he wanted the fucking tresure trove. Worst case he could grab some food and make off with that, but...food was something he could snag easily from any other place. Treasure? Once in a lifetime. He highly doubted he’d ever encounter another flying pirate ship like this one. He bared his teeth at nothing. He’d backed himself into a corner to hide….he could use his shadow leaping to move again, but he knew...he knew Pharaoh was just waiting to take over. Too many more jumps and he’d do it. But even if he did jump, what good would it do him? He didn’t know how to get the treasure.

That boy though, he probably did. He could use that boy.

He needed a weapon. Something he could use to intimidate the bastard. The kitchen only had so much to offer...but at least it had big knives. Knives for cutting bones and meat up, those hammer things for flattening meat and making it soft. Those were good weapons, he could use those. He’d seen the meat rack when he snuck in, so he just had to grab the knife from there. Timing though….timing was perfect. He heard the little shit step in, those clompy footsteps too obvious. He couldn’t exactly jump out from his corner….if he was gonna get the boy he needed to shadow jump and grab a knife then lunge at him.

This was probably the last safe jump he had.

You willing to risk it?

Shut up.

The boy didn’t speak, instead shifting into the shadows, feeling that familiar embrace of darkness. Not long, just...just a little bit. Only a bit. When he emerged, it was through a shadow cast by the side counter, next to the meat rack where all those delicious hams and sausages were hanging. He grabbed a knife, letting out a screeching yell as he lurched toward the other boy. ”The treasure.” he hissed, swiping and lashing out. ”Show me.”

Pippa had always been a fairly insecure individual. There had always been something to worry over. In the beginning- and perhaps even now- it had been her asthma. It had been terrible when she had been young, only growing better with time, but the worry of her parents never quite disappearing. Then there had her inability to speak well. everything she wanted to say always came out wrong. Over time, the flaws had seemed to grow to the point that she had found it to be easier to speak less and act like someone who she wasn't her, someone quieter and cool. However, as per usual, with time she had grown tired of the act and simply found it better to run away.

Better to be herself, even if it meant that she could not be around those she cared about. Though, even now the nagging thought about whether she really was herself still lingered. After all, the person she was now definitely rang similar to the person who had run away.

Yet, that insecure and frazzled girl had never quite been someone to be intimidated. She could recall many instances where she should have been intimidated. Meeting Captain Hook certainly should have been one of those instances, and while she could recall fearing for her life she had never quite been willing to wither away due to fear. Rather, she stood in the face of it and moved forward.

A teenager would not cow her where older and more powerful individuals had failed.

a look of surprise flashed across Pippa's face at the sudden appearance of the boy. Unfortunately, she found herself unable to move quickly enough and nicked by the blade. Suddenly, it became clear that Pippa, despite her appearance, was clearly not a boy. Instead of looking intimidated, the young woman looked distinctly angry. Gripping her dagger, she glared at him. "No," she snapped before throwing herself at him.

The slice hadn’t been bad, but he didn’t need it to be bad. Just a cut along the arm - enough to draw blood, but not deep enough to gauge anything important. Not that he would’ve cared if it really cut her, didn’t need her arm anyway. Not to show him around. Only….from this distance it uh.

Well, he admittedly wasn’t expecting the guy to be a…..girl. Girls made it weird….not too weird, it wasn’t like he had any issues with cutting them up any more than boys, but the female body was weird shit to him. Just….if he didn’t think about it it didn’t matter. Whatever.

Dumb bitch wasn’t listening though. Hell she even threw herself right at him, with her own knife dagger thing in hand. He bared his teeth, lunging right into it. Didn’t even care when he felt the cut, he tried to grab her, to squeeze that injured arm enough and push her back if he could. He was baring his teeth the whole while, eyes narrowed viciously. ”Ain’t leavin’ till I get some. What’s it matter ‘a you anyway? Left ya on the ship alone.”

He wasn’t wrong. It’d seemed pretty fuckin empty till he saw the girl, so what was she just their fall guy, the lookout who got shot up to warn ‘em of an intruder? Why’d she care anyway?

The boy did not seem to understand and, truth be told, she did not expect him to. Chances were that he lived a different life from her, especially if he was so adamant at stealing from a pirate ship. However, her own life was one which dictated that she could not be afraid of this child no matter what he pulled upon on her. She was not allowed to. In many ways, this was an unspoken rule. Everybody on the Jolly Roger knew what happened to those who gave into their fear. While Pippa would argue that Captain Hook was not the worst of individuals, he was clearly one who used fear and charm to keep those around him in line. Those who broke the fragile order of his ship often ended up dead, as his short temper seemed to live by the rule that it was better to keep those who were useful than allowed things to fall into disarray.

As a result, she found herself unable to allow herself to be intimidated by this child. Of course, it did help that he was not that frightening. If anything, he just seemed desperate. However, even a touch of kindness that she might have preferred offering seemed dangerous. She did not wish to give into the cruelty of pirates and was rather adamant of avoiding as much of it as she could despite her position. Unfortunately, a bit too much kindness might end up hurting her. If not due to an angry Captain, then through a child who might be willing to take advantage of it.

Unfortunately, this entire situation was not to her forte. Pippa knew little fighting, resulting in her attempt to fight against the youth to be frenzied, more like the wild struggles that a child might have. Moreover, she knew quite well that she should be trying to monitor herself. Using too much energy would only hurt her, considering that she had asthma. She had not had an attack in years of course, but then she had been paying a bit more attention to what she did until recently.

She wheezed out a laugh, doing her best to ignore the pain. "You're gonna be here awhile then," she said, before rolling her eyes at him, "And I'm supposed to be on the ship alone." Clearly, this kid did not have much of an understanding to patrols. Or, maybe he did and was just making up nonsense.

He wouldn’t be controlled. He wouldn’t be pushed or told off, not by this stupid teenager. He already had one smug asshole in his life, fighting for control, taking him over; he didn’t need anyone else pushing him around. In that shitty orphanage, that was all he had endured; being smaller, he was easier to push around, even by kids younger than him. And no one did shit about it. He hated that he’d been pushed so far to trust this filthy shadow attached to him, but he was doing his best to push past it, to be strong on his own. It was why he acted so rashly - attacking others, even pirate ships. It was an expression of power, asserting his dominance in a dangerous situation.

If not for this stupid bitch, he would’ve already been well on his way to conquest. A pirate’s treasure...if he could get even a handful of that, he’d be richer than he ever had been, than anyone back home in that place.

He felt a little better though, that the stupid girl was shit at fighting. She was trying to fight back, but her arms were going all over, she was leaving herself open. Close range like this wasn’t her strength then. As a pirate she probably had better use of a gun, more for ranged attacks, but he wasn’t about to let her have an inch. He felt good being in control of the fight, even if he hadn’t found the treasure yet. So when she laughed, he just grinned right back, showing crooked little teeth. ”Of course you’re spose ta...too weak for the real work. Don’t trust you.” He wasn’t really trying to break her down….not that much, but it just felt good to throw insults. He pushed right up in her face, baring his teeth. ”You gonna do anything if I go look on my own? I ain’t leavin without somethin for me. Not wastin my time.”

The sudden growl of his stomach had the boy tense up, balling his fists. Shut the fuck up, you useless shitty body. If he didn’t need his strength right now, he’d damnwell punch that stupid gut of his.
