The smell of the grass was good. It was clean and Daisy lay in it at peace, her body furled around itself as best as she could; she had no petals to cover her form, but her dress was suitable, leaving only her limbs and bulb visible. She reached with the fingers of one hand to brush individual blades, taking a deep breath in, absorbing the familiarity with a pretty yellow feeling in her “tummy”. That was what she’d heard saplings call it…the big part of her stalk in the middle just a bit above where her lower limbs attached.

She let herself unfurl, spreading her arms wide and rolling onto her back. This place was nice. It was safe. And it was better than before. She pressed her two-lips together, reaching one arm up to brush at soft fleshy skin where it was still a little scratchy. Her encounter with the fear-beast had left her in quite a bit of pain…even if all he had wanted was her fear, not her harm. She had managed to retreat to a place far from him where she could recover…and recover…and recover in the glow of the sun. But, now she was left to think, and to seek comfort in the green that surrounded her. The grass was kind and brushed against her softly to reassure her, and she was kind to the grass in return. She had to wonder now, if this was what it meant to be a Guardian that fought. Would she meet more like that one? Would she have to fight them? It was a truly scary thing to think of.

She didn’t want to fight, but she supposed…that if a fight came to her, she had no choice.

Daisy sat up when she smelled a new smell. Her body bent in half, her upper part stalk-like and stiff, eyes closed, bulb raised so that she could catch the strangeness on the breeze more readily. She listened with sharp ears to the soft sound of movement in the grass. There was another figure here, another drawing near. She tilted slightly. The smell was not bad….it was…strange, not the usual smells she had ever smelled, but it was a good smell. She took a deep breath. ”Hello?” She attempted to engage the strange person….if they spoke up…then probably, they were friendly.

Katala was out exploring by himself once again. It wasn't as though he disliked the Grove. He loved it, it was his home, but more and more he found it stifling. He wanted to explore every corner of the world and yet others warned against it for reasons he didn't understand. Why would Mother encourage such curiosity if they were not allowed to act upon it? It was frustrating.

Katala just sighed and made his way through the forest. At least there was enough here to keep his attention. For now at least. He had already spent the morning following the river south before branching off to see what was beyond the river banks. He'd come this way before, but it had been a while since then and he was sure there was still more to see. Especially since he had only passed through briefly then. Maybe he would find a cave system to explore or perhaps a hidden grotto. Maybe even both.

He was looking for just that when he heard someone call out. It sounded like a little girl. Which was weird. Now that he was aware that someone else was here though, he could see her through the trees. She wasn't close to him per say but her pale skin and white dress stuck out again the dark green foliage. He narrowed his eyes at her curiously and made his way toward her. How had she known he was there? Had he been making too much noise? He usually didn't. And she certainly hadn't seen him, not with her eyes closed. Either she was being silly or something was genuinely wrong with her eyes. He really hoped she was just being silly. He didn't like the idea of a blind child lost out here in the woods by herself.

"Hello. Are you lost?" He asked gently. He didn't want to scare her. Part of him wanted to ask if she had a parent around but... there was something strange about her. Something he just couldn't quite place.

She could hear and smell the stranger, whomever it was, and whatever it was. They weren’t like the humans, with their pink bodies that smelled so strange and different. No this being that was here was rich and fresh and familiar, only….it was a smell that had not been here moments ago. Most flora she had met were stationary, with exceptions very few. She had met Rose, of course, and Rose was much like herself, a flower nymph who could grow tall like the humans just the same way she did. And, there were others, flower fae, people who were like the flora in nature but shared behaviours and smells with humans. But this was not the smell of a flower fae, nor a flower nymph; it was a new smell but a lovely one nonetheless.

The breeze that the stranger spoke with was very nice. It was a him, a he, if she was correct; the sound was lower, though still musical as all breezes were to Daisy. And the sound was very warming! Such good words were spoken then, it made her feel faintly yellow in her bosom. Forward she pitched, and then back a little upon her un-rooted heels. She gave a side-to-side bob of her head, three times. ”Daisy is not lost!” She chirped her own response, higher and lighter and airy. The sound that was female and girl, how she had come to know that she was called a lady, a lass, a damsel, and all the many other terms she’d heard for the woman-types.

She had turned herself to where she heard the sound, as best as she possibly could. She let her eyes open, but saw only the faintest glimmers from what the sun’s glow gave her. Sunlight gave her vision, but only in little ways. Only faint outlines of shapes, nothing more. ”Daisy smelled you and heard you coming. You are flora kin? From which family?”

She knew only that the him was flora in nature. But what sort?

Well the girl certainly seemed sure of her current situation. And he could tell by how she moved that she was indeed blind. Or at the very least had absolutely horrible vision. He would have to remind himself of that while they talked. He didn't want to do something to offend her by accident. Still, there was something off about her. The way she spoke, the way she felt...

"Flora kin?" Now that he thought about it, if he focused on her, he could sense her. It was very similar to sensing other plants like the trees and grass around them. But she was much faster in her reactions and seemed aware of things just beyond her roots. Assuming she even had roots to rely on. It wasn't like his connection to his siblings but she wasn't like any other plant he had come across. It was curious. She was curious.

"I am a sylvari." He said, stepping closer to her and out of the forest. He went slow. She couldn't see and he didn't want to move too quickly in case he scared her. "What are you? I've never met someone like you." He couldn't keep the interest out of his voice. He was just a bit too curious about the girl, whatever she was.

Sylvari…..Sylvari…..Daisy had never heard such a name before. She blinked sightlessly, the tips of her fingers brushing lightly against blades of grass as she thought. The name was close to “silver”....it was a colour which was noble, a colour which was brave. But, he had not said “silver”....but still, Daisy liked to believe that perhaps the two were related. Her two-lips turned upward and she nodded her head. ”You are the first Sylvari which Daisy has met. You are not a nymph?” That was the only thing she knew….the only type of plant-body which could speak the way she did and think the way she did and walk the way she did.

Oh, but Sylvari wished to know what Daisy was. She bounced slightly, tilting her head. ”Daisy has never met someone like Sylvari.” she breezed in response, though...that was not an answer, was it? It was very bad of her not to answer. ”Daisy is a daisy. A flower nymph. Daisy’s real body is far far from here, but she can walk like this! Only, Daisy cannot see like most beasts do. So Daisy must be careful like this!” She tapped her lower lip and let out a soft bubbly sound. Now, it was her time to be intrigued.

”What is Sylvari? You do not smell like me, but you smell familiar. And the flora like you a lot. They tell me so.” Yes, whomever Sylvari was, they were good. There was not a sign of worry from the plants around her at all, in fact they seemed quite at ease. And so, Daisy was too.

"No, I'm not a nymph." It made sense that she was one though. It certainly explained why she felt so... strange. He'd never met one before now. Heard about them, certainly, but he'd never actually met one face to face. It was interesting. He had questions. "Is it normal for nymphs to be unable to see? Do you all answer to what you are? Or do you have your own names like humans do?"

Katala blinked when she issued her own question. It finally occurred to him that he hadn't actually told her his name, that she was simply referring to him by what he was. "I am a... sylvari. That's what we are. My name is Katala though. We're from Earth but also not." He frowned. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain himself on what he was. He would imagine that humans would have this kind of trouble as well, not that they were ever asked.

"I would think they would like me. We are all plants after all." He gave her a small smile, even though he knew she couldn't see it. It was more for the feeling behind it than anything. Would she understand something like that? He didn't even know if he understood her.
