It had been many years since Esmeralda had possessed a pet of any sort. The last she had had was Djali, a clever goat that had taken well to the tricks she had taught it. However, she had been reluctant for many years to take upon another pet. Life had not been kind to her when she had had Djali, as the goat had been used against her when she had begun to be accused as a witch. Moreover, she was unsure as to what fate her pet had met after she had been captured. While it had taken some time to move past the event, she had found herself reluctant to take upon a pet for another reason: it would be inconvenient. She traveled far too much and she doubted that it would do well for most animals.

Only now, as she began to accept her place in the world, had she begun to look for one. She had not wished for a goat, thinking that such a choice might not end well. As such, he had chosen to take upon a chicken.

Thankfully, she had some idea as to how one took care of a chicken. She had traveled a fair amount in her life and the second group of Romani she had taken to living with had been more inclined to gaining their own food than stealing it as the group who had stolen her had been. However, she could hardly claim to be a master of all knowledge. As such, it was to her benefit that she knew that the modern era was one with easy access to knowledge.

It was due to this that it had begun.

Through her research, she had come to know two others who also owned chickens. For a time, they had spoken before it had been settled that they should meet up. As such, the Guardian had come to find herself in Austria.

Absently, Esmeralda shifted the dupatta of her salwar kameez so that she was better protected from the chilly weather of the city. Turning her attention back to her surroundings, she gazed about, absently petting Victoire as she waited for the two people that she was waiting for.

There was so much for him to do today. So much in fact that he almost totally forgot about what exactly what he had planned for later. He didn’t mean to be running late. His attention ended up getting pulled away by the children of the village. It was not every day that Kayden brought his pet chicken with him into town, so the kids ended up crowding him asking him all the questions and wanted to play and pet his chicken. Without meaning two he ended up staying with those kids for like an hour and half before realizing what he actually came into town for. He could almost smack himself for forgetting that he had agreed to meet two others. He had to get moving before he ended up missing them.

It took longer than what he wanted, but the blond managed to get away from the kids and made his way into the small town with his black silkie riding of his shoulder; much like a parrot. Now where exactly did they say they were going to meet again? He honestly could not remember for the life of him. There just had been a lot and his mind lately with everything going on. He sighed, petting his chicken on the head lightly. It should not be too hard to figure out. After all, this town was tiny compared to most. The teen moved himself forward down the road towards the town square. It would make sense for it would be there. It was the most crowded place in town.

Once he finally made it, he glanced around the area. So far he knew recognized all of the people as the ones who live in town. No one really new. Kayden was about to give up and check elsewhere but his orange gaze fell onto Esmeralda. He never saw her before, meaning that it was likely she was one of the people he was meeting with today. At least he wasn’t the last one here. Not a second later, the teen inched his way over to Esmeralda. “Hey. Sorry I’m a bit late… I sort of ran into trouble.” He started out nervously. “So… I’m guessing you’re here about the chicken thing, right?”

Well this was a weird sort of thing to join up with. Some sort of chicken club meeting halfway across the planet. Ah well, Don Julio wasn't reall a fan of New Orleans anyway. It was a bit warm for the fuzzy, well-natured hen. Even if Jon gave him a few fans to keep him cool. Jon had a few doubts...he'd taken a chicken, in a dog carrier, on a fucking plane. A plane. A chicken, on a plane, specifically to fly to Austria for chicken things.

Well, he was supposed to be more social, right? Didn't joining an international chicken club count to some extent? He had stepped off the plane with Julio into...cold weather. God, he hated cold weather. He'd warmed himself as much as possible while keeping the heat away from his companion, who seemed to be a bit jarred by the flight and was a bit upset.

"It's ok bud." Jon told him gently. "I'm sure we'll get to a place where you can play with the other chickens and be a bit more social without Sab trying to eat you." This news seemed to comfort Julio little, and the chicken irritably kicked inside his carrier. Jon sighed and headed toward the meeting place that had been described in the email. There was a strangely ethnic woman standing there with a kid. Was this a chicken club or a cooking class?

Well, one way to find out. He walked up to the pair and cleared his throat, setting the chicken down by his (unshod) feet. "Hey...uh...are you Esmeralda?" he asked the woman. "About the chicken club? Sorry I'm late. International flights are slow this time of year."

Victoire was a rather irritable creature, though perhaps she was being kind with that description. The hen came off as quite self absorbed and seemed to have a judgmental air to her. While the latter was not quite obvious as she waited, it seemed to flair out as a youth approached her. He appeared to be quite young, appearing only a few years younger than herself. The hen immediately turned her attention to two, eying them as if they had stepped into her own territory. Perhaps they had. Esmeralda was not entirely sure if Victorire was a normal chicken. She seemed to possess quite the personality to her. Then again, Djali had not been that different. It would be something of a lie to say that

"Yes," she said pleasantly, not bothering to ask about the trouble. As far as she was concerned, he probably would have told her if he had wanted to. "Though, I am not entirely sure you can call yourself late." After all, the other individual was not here. If anything, he was either early or on time.

Though, speak of the devil and all that.

Just moments after she said that a an who appeared to be older than the two of them appeared. "Yes," she said pleasantly. "Though, it is nice to meet you both." She paused and glanced down at Victorire. "Ah, this is Victorire. Pardon the...chicken glares."

It had appeared that he was not the one to arrive last at this little event. Kayden was quite relieved to know that fact. He did not mean to get side tracked but when a whole group of kids swarmed you there was not much you could do. And to make matters worse, the blond doubted Hannah was very pleased with getting poked and petted by a bunch of children for about an hour or two. With just one look he could tell she was not in a very pleasant mood. He hoped for the sake of this event that the silkie would eventually calm her nerves. He would prefer that she didn’t start pecking anyone. While it didn’t necessarily hurt but it was quite annoying rather than anything else. He just wanted the hen to get along and make chicken friends as she was always a lone one when she was with him.

Before he was able to get a word in, another person had came into the picture. He brought his orange gaze to the new comer of the group. It was a man who looked to be far older than both of them. Not that he minded at all. The more the better. What they all had here for where the chickens from what he knew. Speaking of which, Kayden brought his attention back onto his own chicken who was still resting on his shoulder. He made to move to her onto the ground with the others but stopped once he got peaked on the hand. “Ow…” He mumbled mainly to himself. “Well… I guess all the chickens are in a bad mood.”

For the moment, Kayden decided to just leave his silkie where she was. He would rather not get peaked again for trying to move her from his shoulder. “Anyway, if you didn’t already know I’m Kayden and the moody one on my shoulder is Hannah.” He figured he should introduce himself just in case. He honestly could not remember if he ever his name or not before.
